Rhodes alumni demand ‘privileged’ anti-Israel scholars quit programme

Pro-Palestine students accused of biting the hand that feeds them in hypocrisy row

Former Rhodes scholars have called on current students who complained about the programme’s links to Israel to quit.

Dan Lubrich, president of the Rhodes Institute, said former scholars had become increasingly concerned about the Left-leaning drift of the scheme.

In a statement addressing the recent dinner protest, Mr Lubrich said: “We applaud the altruism, humility, and independent thinking of these future leaders.

“It is not every day that one accepts substantial funding from an institution alleged to support genocide, then demands that this funding be cut off – not for themselves, of course, but for future cohorts.
